I just wanted pass along some product info that I thought some would find useful.
We recently started using the Canon Canobeam and have been extremely happy with it.  The Canobeam is essentially a wireless fiber optic cable that streams data, voice, and video communications accross short disntances using free space optics.  When I say short I mean a couple of block or city streets, so it's still a fairly good distance.
We use it just as a replacement for the fiber optic cable but it has other applications such as temporary communications if your fiber optic network is "under construction", LAN extension, security, fiber backbone extension, and disaster recovery.
Free space optics is a great way to save money for the many businesses that are tightening their belts nowadays.  It saves alot of time, hassle, and money on fiber optic cable installation and upkeep, as well as general network upkeep.
I always like to pass on info I run accross about new and proven technology and products so I hope this helps with your fiber optic woes.
